Deddington is a large village in north Oxfordshire, about 6 miles south of Banbury in the parish of Deddington which incorporate the villages of Clifton and Hempton. After the Norman invasion of 1066 the village was owned by Odo of Bayeux, half-brother to William the Conqueror, who built Deddington Castle. The castle was almost completely demolished in the 14th century. Deddington has many historical buildings and picturesque houses made of honey coloured ironstone. The Town Hall is near the centre of the Market Place, a roughly rectangular area with a green.
