Daventry is located about 12 miles from Northampton, at the heart of England. It is just six miles from junction 16 of the M1 and also gives easy access to the A5, A14, M45, M6 and A1. It is a market town and the market is held in the High Street every Tuesday and Friday. Remains of an Iron Age hill fort have been found at Borough Hill which overlooks the town. Evidence of Roman buildings has also been found at this site. The town of Daventry itself dates back to Anglo Saxon times in 920AD. Shakespeare refers in 'King Henry IV part one' to 'the red nosed innkeeper of daintree'.
