Cushendun village is one of the loveliest spots in what's officially known as the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Hugging a bay and a sandy beach just a few miles north of Cushendall, Cushendun is by-passed by the famous Antrim Coast Road. Still, visitors won't regret taking a short diversion to explore a village that's been described as "the prettiest in Ireland". Much of Cushendun falls within a conservation area managed by the National Trust, and its unique character comes from the Cornish-style terraces and cottages designed by architect Clough Williams-Ellis (who also created the Italianate buildings of Portmeirion, Wales - famed setting for the TV series "The Prisoner").
