Cromarty is a well-preserved historic town on the east-coast of the Highlands of Scotland situated at the mouth of the Moray Firth at the easternmost point of the Black Isle. Cromarty was established as a Royal Burgh in the13th century. The town was developed in 1772 by George Ross, owner of the Cromarty Estate, building a brewery, a hand-loom factory, the Courthouse, the harbour and Cromarty House, which replaced the old castle. The town has many architecturally interesting Georgian buildings, cafes, restaurants, pubs, hotels and holiday accommodations.
