The village of Crich is to be found in Derbyshire in the Derwent Valley and for those who having taken time to visit here think it to be familiar would not be mistaken, fans of the TV programme Peak Practice will recognise this as the setting for the village of Cardale that featured in the series. For others though the village of Crich is famous for being home to the National Tramway Museum, originally opened in 1959 it is now home to around 50 trams of which around a third are in working order. But these are only a couple of reasons as to why Crich is unique, what truly sets this village apart from its neighbours is that whilst it nestles down in the valley high on a ridge overlooking the place is Crich Stand, a lighthouse tower built shortly after the end of the First World War as a memorial to those local men that were lost, and in 1952 it was re-dedicated to those men who lost their lives in the Second World War.
