Cawdor is a small historic village in Invernesshire in the Highlands of Scotland, situated 5 miles south of the Nairn and 12 miles east of Inverness. Cawdor grew as an estate village serving Cawdor Castle, home of the Thanes of Cawdor, popularised by Shakespeare. The village sits to the west of the castle across the valley of the Allt Dearg flowing north into the River Nairn. Cawdor Castle is a popular visitor attraction the Castle is a medieval fortress with central tower built in1454. There are three gardens; the Walled Garden, the Flower Garden and the Wild Garden and there is a 9-hole golf course.
