Catterall is located in the North West of England just South of its larger neighbour, Garstang in the County of Lancashire. Originally referred to in the Domesday Book as Caterhala it’s name underwent a number of changes before becoming Catterall as it is known today. In its time Catterall was an industrious area, the River Calder runs close to the village and the inhabitants of Catterall used this to power the printing mills and worsted mills in the area. Boots and clogs were also made and sold locally, because of the river the land around it was particularly suited to dairy and livestock farming.
