Bwlch ( which means pass in Welsh) is a small village on the A40 between Brecon and Crickhowell. – locals joke that there are as many pubs as inhabitants but numbers are swelled by the ranks of visitors ( usually keen walkers and cyclists) who (whilst they have trouble pronouncing the place to ask for directions) enjoy it when they find it. The village is situated about 200 metres above sea level, and and has fabulous views of the south-western slopes of the Black Mountains with the Brecon Beacons close by .
