Located about 14 miles outside of Chester on the A41 this small Cheshire settlement gently rises from the Cheshire Plains on a typical sandstone outcrop with some excellent views across the local countryside and forms part of The Sandstone Trail - a long distance footpath stretching some 30 miles from the Shropshire border to the Mersey along central Cheshire. In 1872 it is recorded that the local population for the Burwardsley area was around 500 and they were living in 106 properties – located in the heart of the countryside the number of houses and householders may have increased but this is very much the English Countryside as it once was, extensive fields with distant views of towns and villages.
