Burslem is a fascinating Market town positioned in the Fowlea Valley in Staffordshire, and is home to over twenty two thousand people. The town dates back centuries and from its humble beginnings of a small agricultural settlement the town thrived. It's renowned for its ceramic production over the centuries, and has been home to some of the world's leading names, including Moorcroft, Doulton, Burleigh, and perhaps the best known Wedgewood. Josiah Wedgewood was born in Burslem in 1730, and later opened his first factory whilst still a young man in the 18th Century, a legacy of which remains today.
