Brinsworth is an interesting village in Southern Yorkshire, home to nearly nine thousand people. It's perfectly placed betwixt Rotherham and Sheffield, close to the banks of the River Rother. Brinsworth village evolved due to the Roman Fort at Templeborough which was built just a mile or so away, The Roman Army of Legionnaires encamped there, and outside the walls of the Fort the village grew, and continued to grow throughout the ages. Once the Romans left, the village remained, although it was affected during the Norman Conquest when they ravaged the north, it bounced back, and, over time became a busy mining and steel community when the Mining Masters chose to sink their mines in the 19th century throughout the surrounding area.
