The village of Braunston can be found just off the A45 between Rugby and Daventry, in the county of Northamptonshire. The main village is situated on a hill above the road and the canals. A former windmill still stands there, but without any sails. Braunston is particularly notable as being a central hub of the English canal network, and home to many canal-related services and businesses. It is situated on the junction between the Grand Union Canal and the Oxford Canal. The canals were once a vital link in the country's transport network and still an important part of today's canal network.
