Blackwood is a small market town on the banks of the River Sirhowy, positioned in the Welsh Valleys in southern Wales, home to over fifteen thousand people. From it's humble beginnings of a cluster of cottages, and rambling farms it expanded with the help of the Colliery Master John Hodder Moggridge, whose innovative approach led to him building rows of houses, and cottages with a vision of a model village in the 19th Century. Today the town is a buzzing and thriving shopping destination with the added appeal of being surrounded by beautiful countryside that pleases the soul.
