Biddenden is a truly enchanting village, between Tenterden to the south and Headcorn to the north. Its high street is the stuff of dreams, an idyll of chocolate-box houses and quaint weavers' cottages. The village's Red Lion Inn was reputedly established in 1415 and its oldest house, Vane Court, dates back to 1420 - much later it became a residence of the King of Siam (Thailand). Everything about Biddenden recalls past times, from its age-old grey-stone church to its pavements of Bethersden "marble" and a medieval Cloth Hall: the village was once engaged in the Weald's dual industries of broadcloth manufacture and iron-mining.
