Bathampton is a picturesque village on the southern banks of the Avon River, positioned just two miles from the ancient city of Bath in North East Somerset, home to nearly 1800 people. The village dates back to the Iron Age, although visitors from across the centuries have all left their mark. The Kennet and Avon Canal journeys through the village offering pleasing walks along the towpath, and out into the surrounding countryside and Bathampton Down where Romans plundered the stone. There's shops and interesting places offering visitors a chance to stay, or step over the Toll Bridge that leads to neighbouring Batheaston.
