Bardon Mill is the name used to describe a collection of hamlets on the northern slopes of the South Tyne Valley between Haltwhistle and Haydon Bridge, located about half way between Newcastle upon Tyne in the north east and Carlisle in the north west on the old Roman road, the Hexham road, known as the A69. It’s close proximity to Hadrian’s Wall and Barcombe Hill provides extensive views of the Border country and is an area of several historic sites including a lime kiln and the Vindalando Roman fort and museum.
