The little village of Bainbridge sits just three miles from Hawes, the home of Wensleydale cheese, easy to reach as it is on the A684 that joins the M6 in the west and the A1 in the east. Askrigg, which in the TV series All Creatures Great and Small served as Darrowby, is located less than two miles to the north-east. Bainbridge was too small to have a church, but it was a great Quaker centre in the early days of that movement, and has a Meeting House of the solid simplicity that would be expected.
