The little village of Aysgarth, with a population of less than 200, is one of the gems of the Dales National Park. It sits on the A684 roughly halfway between the larger settlements of Hawes and Leyburn, about twenty miles from the A1 at Leeming Bar, so is relatively easy to reach, and the journey is amply repaid by a visit to the beautiful Aysgarth Falls. The falls are one of the most famous sights in Wensleydale, and millions who have never visited there will nonetheless know them from their use in the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
