Arrochar is a historic village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland situated on the north tip of Loch Long a few miles from Loch Lomond, two miles east of the village of Tarbet. Arrochar is known as the Gateway to the Cowal and the south-west of Scotland. Arrochar was once home to clan Macfarlane noted cattle thieves and was the location of many battles between the clans and the Vikings. The battle of Tarbet Glen was fought on an isthmus of land between Arrochar and neighbouring Tarbet. Arrochar is surrounded by lochs, mountains and valleys with spectacular scenery, and an abundance of wildlife.
