Ampleforth is a pretty Yorkshire village, on the edge of the North Yorkshire National Park, home to over eight hundred and eighty people. Honey coloured limestone cottages nestle amongst glorious countryside which entice walkers relentlessly, the Saxon church of St Hilda has Medieval stained glass windows and the remains of the old Saxon Market Cross outside. The area is shrouded in history from the evocative Chalk Horse carefully carved by Victorian Soldiers into the hillside nearby, and the Medieval Fortress of Helmsley Castle which rewinds time in an instant, with Visitors Centre and impressive ditches.
