It stands in the main square of the town, adjacent to the town hall and over the centuries has played host to all manner over visitors: King William of Orange, Admiral Lord Nelson and Louis XVIII among the well known.

Since the demise of Ipswich as the main port between the Humber and the Thames, we rarely see such notable customers paying visit through the town, but because of our proximity to the Corn Exchange we have become a popular retreat of the entertainment world.
