Regent House was built in the early 1800s by the Earl of Devon, Lord Courtenay to provide rental income for the Powderham Estate. In the style of a manor house it was occupied as a gentlemen's residence. Regent House is one of the most recognisable houses on the Exe Estuary. There are commanding views of the Exe River and distant hills from the first and second floors. Each of these floors has a luxurious, self-contained apartment decorated to a high standard and with all the conveniences you might expect at home. All have sea views. Starcross is also closely associated with nearby Cockwood Village , the harbour and stories of smugglers using the sands of Dawlish Warren to hide from customs and Excise officers. Today the Starcross pier (300 yards away) will help you board the ferry to Exmouth or a riverboat trip. Deep Sea Fishing can be arranged from Exmouth.
