In the city. The hotel, which is privately owned, has been formed from a terrace of particularly fine late nineteenth century Victorian houses. The fa?ßade and elegantly proportioned interiors have been carefully preserved while still allowing the hotel to offer all the modern services which discerning travelers now demand. All of the hotels 102 bedrooms have private facilities en suite with either a bath, shower or a bath and shower, handbasin and W.C. All rooms also have tea and coffee making facilities, colour television, radio, hairdryer and a direct dial telephone with an automatic wake up alarm facility. The hotel is well known for the friendly welcoming and relaxed atmosphere of its bar, restaurant and conservatory. The restaurant, which is adjacent to the bar, has achieved a reputation for providing some of the best food in the area in glorious surroundings. All tastes are catered for, thanks to the several different menus on offer, all of which feature a wide range of imaginative dishes, freshly prepared in the hotel's scrupulously clean, award-winning kitchens. There is a table d'hote menu, an elaborate and yet modestly priced a la carte menu, an entirely separate vegetarian menu and for younger visitors a children's menu. The refreshing yellow, orange, gold and green colours, the stylish and relaxing upholstered chairs, with a mixture of round and square tables, the crisp white and yellow linen and the oak dressers, decorated with eclectic artifacts, all create an air of contemporary elegance and yet the restaurant is not expensive, hence its popularity with local residents and hotel guests alike. Although the restaurant can seat 85 people, it is divided into three separate areas, thereby creating a more intimate atmosphere. One section of the restaurant can be closed off for private parties, business luncheons, weddings etc and in addition to all the other menus, the hotel offers a wide range of speciality designed lunch and dinner party menus and buffet menus.
